A variety of travel software companies scored spots on
Deloitte's 2017 list of the fastest 500 growing technology companies. Deloitte
evaluated revenue growth from 2013 to 2016 of companies that have been in
business for those four years, are headquartered in Canada or the U.S., own
proprietary technology that contributes to the majority of operating revenue, had
a 2013 base-year operating revenue of at least $50,000 and had 2016 operating
revenue of at least $5 million.
New to the List
Startup Dataminr
ranked 69th, owing to its 2,318 percent growth in revenue from 2013 through
2016. Dataminr monitors Twitter for mentions of emergencies and unexpected
events that could impact travelers. It sells an annual-subscription data feed to
aid clients' duty of care.
Business intelligence and data visualization tool Domo took
the 71st spot. It experienced 2,250 percent growth from 2013 to 2016.
Yapta made the list for the first time since its 2006 launch.
Its 702 percent growth placed it at No. 154. Reshopping tools like Yapta may have
contributed to hotel chains like Marriott
and Hilton lengthening their windows for no-penalty cancellations from 24 hours
to 48 hours.
Parkmobile allows users to pay for metered parking through
its mobile app in 39 U.S. cities. It ranked No. 433 on Deloitte's 2017 list,
exhibiting 179 percent growth in revenue.
Repeat Winners
Spend management company Coupa dropped to No. 182 from 105
last year. Since closing its $153 million IPO
last November, it's been bolstering its machine learning capabilities through
acquisitions. It acquired fraud-detection company Deep
Relevance last month and data analytics company Spend360
in January.
Data visualization company Tableau also dropped in rank from
last year's 202 spot to No. 319. The Seattle-based company reported growth of
256 percent from 2013 to 2016.
Event technology platform Eventmobi moved from No. 253 last
year to 430. It provides meeting organizers with registration tools, event
apps, polls, surveys and digital signage.
Meetings technology tool Etouches maintained its spot at No.
461. After acquiring meetings sourcing and booking tool Zentila
in June 2016, it also added a venue sourcing capability
to its platform in October.
After
a two-year hiatus, fleet management and GPS tracking company GeoTab returned to
the list at No. 485. It had appeared on Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 from
2010 to 2014.
