Radius Names New President
Global travel management services company Radius yesterday announced that Tony Hughes would assume the mantle of company president starting in February.
Hughes comes to Radius from P&O Travel, where he served as U.K. managing director since 1988. He also served as chairman of the British and European Guild of Business Travel Agents in the late 1990s, where he "gained enormous respect from his peers for his understanding of the industry and his ability to represent the strengths and importance of the business travel community to governments and suppliers," said Radius chairman of the board Betta Carney.
Carney also noted that as Radius' first non-American president, the appointment represents "the increasing globalization of our industry and organization where more than half of our shareholder agencies are outside North America." Until Hughes officially begins the job, John Melchior will continue as the company's interim president. Afterwards, Melchior will revert to his former responsibilities as managing director of the international operations.
