Travel management company Perk has launched a Model Context Protocol connector linking its platform with AI-based assistants.
Perk, formerly known as TravelPerk, said its MCP connection would allow clients to search data across travel, spend, invoices and events through AI platforms, such as ChatGPT and Claude, by using "natural" language.
MCP frameworks are already being used by TMCs and other companies, including BCD Travel, Navan, Vibe and expenses specialist Expensify, to link their software and technology platforms to leading AI assistants.
Perk said its first MCP release gives finance teams, travel managers and employees the ability to use compatible AI assistants to find relevant data from the Perk platform.
The TMC added that it plans to release its MCP connector for travel bookings, expense submissions and approval flows later this summer.
Nikita Miller, chief product officer at Perk, in a statement said: "Every team in a business touches travel and spend data, but most of them are still digging through reports and switching platforms to find simple answers.
"The customers we speak to who are building AI workflows are telling us the same thing: they want it to handle travel, guided by their policies, calendar and preferences."
Perk said the first iteration of its MCP connector, which is now live for clients, allows users of its platform to get answers on daily travel and spend tasks.
It also allows travelers to check trip status, bookings, pending expenses and card transactions, while travel managers can monitor pending approvals, query travel policy rules, and audit users by role, cost center or approval process.
Perk added that events teams could now use AI assistants to query event programs, sessions, locations, attendees and RSVPs.
