according to multiple media reports. Delta currently operates five daily roundtrip flights between Love Field and Atlanta using two of the airport's 20 gates, but Virgin America will be taking over those gates on Oct. 13. In a statement, Delta said it was "disappointed that the city of Dallas has made the decision to reduce competition and travel options at Dallas Love Field" and the carrier would "continue to work with all parties to find a solution." The Wright Amendment, enacted in 1979, prevented any carrier from operating passenger service on full-size or midsize aircraft from Love Field to any U.S. city outside of Texas and the states that border it; it was later amended to allow flying to Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi and Missouri. An agreement to repeal the legislation was
reached in 2006, but full repeal will not take place until October.
