AirPlus International managing director of operations in the United Kingdom Yael Klein next week will become president and CEO of the business travel payment solutions company's U.S. subsidiary as well as head of its Americas operations, officials this week told BTN.
Klein has been with the company for more than 13 years and managing director of operations in the United Kingdom since 2007. "She will lead our growth efforts in the market, which saw U.S. and Canada self-issuing volume increase 20 percent in 2013," said Peter Kane, AirPlus marketing communications manager for North America.
Klein will replace as head of AirPlus' U.S. operations Volker Huber, who assumed the role on an interim basis in September 2013 following the departure of AirPlus International North America CEO Ron DiLeo.
Meanwhile, AirPlus on Jan. 1, divided into two organizations, classified as "market" and "after market."AirPlus managing director Patrick Diemer in February was tapped to run the market segment, which consists of the AirPlus sales teams now headed by AirPlus executive director of global sales and country management Michiel Verhaagan. "What we've found in 2012 and 2013 is we'd widened our sales scope too much," Verhaagan said, "and we need to really focus on business travel management." The after-market segment encompasses the organization's IT, collection and payment departments.
