AI corporate travel platform BizTrip.AI has developed a new policy engine that lets companies tailor policies to individual traveler levels as well as adjust for changing market conditions, the company announced.
The Dynamic Travel Policy Engine was developed to help clients move away from wordy, static travel policies that sit on company's intranet and become outdated as programs and suppliers evolve, said BizTrip.AI founder and CEO Tom Romary. Instead, it's a "living system" that can adapt and guide travelers at the moment of booking, he said.
"The idea of dynamic policy is that you don't have to draft a policy every year or every six months," Romary said. "BizTrip is intelligent enough, knowing what's going on in the markets your company participates in, to present flights and hotels and ground transportation that's based on the market pricing and data and fits your general policy."
The engine can apply parameters across a traveler's role or status within a company—presenting business-class options to C-suite travelers as opposed to economy-class options for general travelers, if that's the company's policy, for example. It also can adjust policy to a specific trip. For instance, if a large event is happening in a destination and is skewing prices higher than normal, it can alert travelers rather than simply presenting the lowest available option as in policy, perhaps moving travelers to schedule for a different day if possible.
Travelers also can use BizTrip to ask about policy guidelines, such as the classes they are allowed to fly in or what their daily per diem is, the company said.
Romary said the policy engine was built around the needs of client Moderna, but in its development, "we felt it was an industry need." Launched last year, BizTrip.AI reports about a dozen enterprise clients at different stages of pilot programs besides Moderna.
BizTrip.AI also is working with a handful of clients with unmanaged travel program, and Romary said the company has developed an "off-the-shelf" travel policy those clients can choose to adopt with the engine.
