Hyatt Hotels plans to expand the footprint of its independent collection brands—Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Destination by Hyatt and JdV by Hyatt—with 22 planned openings and two re-openings globally by 2025, the company announced. These new properties will be in addition to the nine hotels opened by these brands during 2020.
JdV by Hyatt, rebranded from Joie de Vivre, plans to increase its footprint in 2021 by 50 percent, with seven new properties, bringing its current total of 14 open hotels to 21. Locations include the Mission Pacific Hotel in Oceanside, Calif.; the El Capitan Hotel in Merced, Calif.; two hotels in Toronto—the Anndore House and the Walper—and three Story hotels in Sweden, two in Stockholm and one in Malmö.
Destination by Hyatt, formerly Destination Hotels, currently plans to open four new hotels in 2021, including the Seabird Resort in Oceanside, Calif.; the Shay in Culver City, Calif.; Banyan Cay Resort and Golf in West Palm Beach, Fla.; and the Sweetgrass Inn at Wild Dunes in Isle of Palms, S.C. Hotel openings in 2020 included the Quirk Hotel Charlottesville in Virginia and the Hana-Maui Resort in Hawaii. The four new properties will bring the brand's total to 58.
Planned openings in 2021 for the luxury-tier Unbound Collection include the Langbo Chengdu, and hotels in Jingdezhen, China, as well as San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. In addition, Hyatt will reopen the Hôtel du Palais Biarritz and the Commune by the Great Wall after each has been undergoing extensive renovations. By 2025, the brand also is slated to add eight additional properties, including the Hotel La Compañia in Panama City, Panama; the Grand Hansa Hotel in Helsinki, Finland; Rancho Pescadero in Todos Santos, Mexico; Baral Hua Hin in Thailand; the former Byblos Hotel in Miijas, Spain, and unnamed hotels in Tongli on the outskirts of Suzhou, China; near Mount Fuji in Japan; and in Hollywood, Calif. These additions will bring the brand from 25 open hotels to a total of 38 during the next four years. The brand also opened six properties in 2020.
