Hopper Technology Solutions has launched a new "Cancel for Any Reason" offering for hotels, which the company said gives hotels and travel sellers the ability to offer premium refundability options.
With the CFAR offering, hotels can offer in the booking flow additional cancellation flexibility at an extra cost to the traveler. If a traveler opts to cancel, HTS covers the cancellation through self-serve automation and customer-related costs for the hotels.
Tripadvisor and hospitality management platform Cloudbeds have been among the early adopters of the offering, and HTS also is launching it with Aven Hospitality, the recently renamed Sabre Hospitality Solutions, which Sabre divested last year. An HTS spokesperson noted that the company has "many corporate travel partners in the pipeline," as it is a "great product-market fit for corporate travel."
Cloudbeds CEO Adam Harris noted the increased flexibility options particularly benefit independent hotels that might not have the same technology resources as major brands.
"Booking flexibility has been reserved for airlines and major OTAs for too long," Harris said in a statement. "Independent hotels were told to compete but without the tools to do so."
