Millennium & Copthorne Hotels Taps IHG's Hartman As CEO
Millennium & Copthorne Hotels today announced the appointment of a new CEO: former InterContinental Hotels Group executive Richard Hartman.
The 62-year-old Hartman has worked with IHG for almost a decade, most recently as managing director of the 620 hotels in its portfolio in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He also managed IHG's Asia/Pacific division between 1998 and 2003, during which time the company's portfolio grew to make it the second-largest hotel chain in the region. In all, Hartman has more than 30 years of experience in the industry, also having worked for the Sheraton brand both in North America and in the Asia/Pacific region.
Hartman's appointment as CEO of the Singapore-based Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, which has a global portfolio of more than 110 hotels, took effect on Monday, according to the company. He also will join the company's board following its annual meeting on May 7.
He replaces executive director Wong Hong Ren, who had served as M&C's interim CEO since the departure of former CEO Peter Papadimitropoulos in August. Papadimitropoulos left the company by mutual consent after less than six months on the job.
