WestJet is doubling its capacity in July compared with June levels and will resume some transborder service to the United States.
The carrier's schedule from July 5 through Aug. 4 includes service to 45 total destinations, 39 of which will be in Canada. WestJet next month will resume service to five U.S. cities: to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Atlanta and New York's LaGuardia Airport as of July 5 and to Orlando starting July 11. The carrier also will start service between Toronto and Cancun on July 11.
The carrier recently announced its new hygiene program to minimize Covid-19 spread.
"Jurisdictions around the world are opening, allowing citizens to begin flying once again, which is kickstarting their economies for recovery," according to WestJet chief commercial officer Arved von zur Muehlen. "We've heard from the communities we serve and look forward to having Canadians safely participate and stimulate domestic tourism this summer."
The July schedule remains only about a quarter of WestJet's July 2019 capacity.
