Delta, Global Carriers to Resume Tel Aviv Flights

With a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in place, many global carriers plan to resume service to Tel Aviv that had been suspended at various points after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel.

Delta Air Lines on April 1 will resume flights between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Tel Aviv, the carrier announced Friday. The nonstop flights will operate daily with Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, providing nearly 2,000 weekly seats, according to Delta.

The carrier also has a codeshare deal with El Al Israel Airlines that began Jan. 1, 2024. The partnership allows Delta customers to book El Al flights between Tel Aviv and JFK, Newark, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, according to the carrier.

"Delta's decision to resume service follows a comprehensive security review, conducted in close coordination with government and private-sector partners," the carrier noted in a statement.

The Atlanta-based airline is the only one of the three U.S. passenger carriers with Israel service to announce intentions to resume flights. American Airlines in a statement said that it "continuously evaluates its network and we have nothing new to share at this time regarding Tel Aviv service." United Airlines said "our flights to Tel Aviv remain suspended at this time."

Other global carriers, however, have added Tel Aviv back into their schedules. Data retrieved Jan. 22 and provided to BTN by aviation analytics company Cirium show the airlines with Tel Aviv flights on their schedules through December 2025, including the following selection of major carriers with service to Israel slated to begin or resume this year.

Air Canada has added Tel Aviv flights from each Toronto and Montreal to begin in May. It last operated the Montreal route in October 2023. The Toronto route mainly was suspended as of October 2023, except for seven flights on the schedule in April 2024.

Air India has added flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv to begin in March. It last operated the route in August 2024.

Austrian Airlines is scheduled to resume service from Vienna to Tel Aviv in February. It last operated the route in September 2024.

British Airways is scheduled to resume London-Tel Aviv flights in April. The carrier suspended service in November 2023, according to the Cirium data, except for seven flights that were on the schedule in October 2024.

Brussels Airlines has Brussels-Tel Aviv flights on the schedule to begin in February. The carrier last operated the route in September 2024.

Cathay Pacific is scheduled to resume Hong Kong-Tel Aviv flights in October. It last operated the route in October 2023.

Emirates is scheduled to resume Dubai-Tel Aviv service in October. It last operated the route in October 2023.

ITA Airways has Rome-Tel Aviv service scheduled to resume in February. It last operated the route in October 2024.

Iberia is scheduled to begin Madrid-Tel Aviv service in March.

Lufthansa is scheduled to resume service to Tel Aviv from each Frankfurt and Munich in February. It last operated each route in September 2024.

Swiss is scheduled to resume Zurich-Tel Aviv service in February. It last operated the route in September 2024.

Virgin Atlantic is scheduled to resume its London-Tel Aviv service in October. It last operated the route in November 2023.
