A New York-based technology company has developed an Internet-based tool to help businesses manage chauffeured transportation and provide a paperless payment solution for travelers.
Qdrivium Corp. in September launched a tool that integrates directly with chauffeured car companies' dispatching systems and provides an electronic voucher via wireless device when a passenger enters the vehicle. The voucher automatically calculates the fare using a negotiated rate, said James Jankey, Qdrivium executive director of sales and marketing. At the end of the ride, passengers can review and approve the itemized voucher.
"We completely wrote this application from the beginning by using Web and wireless technology," Jankey said. "You only need a browser. You don't have to install, manage or update any software."
The voucher breaks out all charges such as tolls, wait time, tip and fuel surcharge from the total amount, and has the ability to differentiate between peak and off-peak hours or wait time in one-minute or five-minute increments.
Travel managers also can personalize the tool. For example, they can set time restrictions on car usage or set fare ceilings that automatically will highlight any fare that exceeds the set level. The tool can be used with any car company, Jankey said.
