U.S. Requires Private Aviators Crossing Borders To Register Electronically
U.S. Customs and Border Protection this week said it is requiring private aircraft operators entering and exiting the United States to submit passenger and pilot information through a newly launched electronic system.
The new requirement, issued Nov. 18, 2008, and effective this week, requires pilots of private aircraft to provide CBP with information on "a flight's departure, arrival and passengers, no less than 60 minutes prior to departure."
CBP said pilots should file the manifest data through the Electronic Advanced Passenger Information System or "an approved alternate system."
