UAL Continues Sr. Mgmt. Shuffle
Bankrupt United Airlines, as part of far-reaching restructuring efforts, late last week released Frank Kent, vice president of North America sales. Kent, who accepted early retirement, had been at the top of the carrier's corporate sales team since May 2001. At press time, there was no official word on any further decisions regarding United's sales team, which until Friday was headed by a trio of vice presidents also including Sean Donohue and Daniel Walsh. Overall, United is planning to trim corporate officers by 18 percent.
According to printed reports, United also will lose the services of Shelley Longmuir, senior vice president of international, regulatory and governmental affairs and one of the airlines' leading voices in Washington.
Meanwhile, United last week tapped former CFO Doug Hacker as executive vice president for strategy, responsible for all corporate strategy and revenue-producing functions.
