Clear today launched Registered Traveler lanes at Denver International Airport and gained its second domestic carrier partner in Frontier Airlines, which will give one-year complimentary memberships to its highest tier of frequent flyer members.
Clear said all other Frontier frequent flyer members would receive an extra month on its annual membership. The Registered Traveler provider this month upped its membership fee, from $99.95 to $128, to include a $28 Transportation Security Administration vetting fee.
Clear last year signed an agreement to co-market the product with AirTran Airways, and also has gained a few foreign carriers, including Air France, British Airways and Virgin Atlantic, to cosponsor lanes.
Although most domestic carriers have been reluctant to partner with Registered Traveler providers, and their lobbying group, the Air Transport Association, has remained opposed to the program, providers said they are seeking ways to partner with carriers without compromising airline status programs that get elite travelers to the front of the line
