TSA next month will solicit a shoe scanning device system
capable of "detecting threat objects concealed in footwear without
requiring passenger to remove their footwear as they pass through a security
checkpoint," according to a notice posted to FedBizOpps.gov.
Scheduled to be issued on April 25, the request for
proposals will contain a timeline for the designated contractor but not a
deployment date, according to a Transportation Security Administration spokesperson.
