North American airlines delivered nearly 83
percent of their flights within 15 minutes of scheduled arrival last month, slipping
3 percentage points from September 2009 and up slightly from August this year, FlightStats
reported on Monday.
Among major U.S. carriers,
AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines and United Airlines posted the best September
on-time figures with nearly 91 percent, 90 percent and 89 percent,
respectively. American Airlines and Delta Air Lines posted below-average
on-time performance last month, at nearly 82 percent and 81 percent,
respectively, while JetBlue Airways and
Southwest Airlines each delivered fewer than 79 percent of their
flights on time.
