Worldwide international air passenger traffic in October grew 3.2 percent year over year,
according to the International Air Transport Association. Negatively impacted by Hurricane Sandy, U.S. international traffic rose a modest 0.2 percent, the lowest growth rate across major regions, according to IATA. Elsewhere, October international traffic growth ranged from 12.4 percent year over year in the Middle East to 1.4 percent in Asia/Pacific. Hurricane Sandy also hit U.S. domestic air traffic, falling nearly 1 percent. "We estimate that about two-thirds of the passengers impacted by the hurricane were U.S. domestic passengers," according to IATA.
