American Airlines consolidated global sales and marketing under chief commercial officer Virasb Vahidi.
A statement from AA CEO Tom Horton noted that Vahidi "has made great strides in strengthening our sales and marketing efforts in North America and Europe. Now, we have an important opportunity to do an even better job for our corporate and high-value customers by integrating Pacific and Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America sales and marketing into his organization." Horton claimed the new structure would make the carrier "more coordinated, nimble and effective in meeting the needs of these important customers." Among other announced management changes, senior vice president of Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America Peter Dolara and senior vice president of airport services and cargo Thomas Del Valle will retire, effective June 30. Vice president of New York Art Torno will become vice president of Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America. AA indicated it would make more management changes in the coming months.
