The U.S. Senate confirmed Coast Guard Vice Adm. Peter Neffenger as the head of the Transportation Security Administration on Monday.

Most recently deputy commandant for operations with the Coast Guard, Neffenger replaces John Pistole, who stepped down last year, and takes the helm following an internal investigation in which the majority of auditors carrying banned items made it through airport security checkpoints an overwhelming majority of the time.
