The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration has granted American Airlines and US Airways a single operating certificate,
AA announced Wednesday. The certificate means most procedures related to operations, maintenance and dispatch are now identical for all flights, and all flights will be referred to as “American” in air traffic control communications. Travelers will still be able to check into flights via usairways.com and through US Airways ticket counters until the carrier integrates into a single website and reservation system later this year.
