Lyft has begun to roll out its app in Europe, the ride-hailing company announced Wednesday. North American Lyft riders now can use the Lyft app in the U.S., Canada and select cities in Europe.
Riders in Europe can download the Lyft app, which currently is in an "early access" mode, according to a Lyft spokesperson. Some features may vary, depending on the region, but this rollout "is laying the groundwork for our single, global app that will roll out next year for riders across the globe."
In Europe, use of the Lyft app is available in Barcelona and Hamburg to start, according to the company. Throughout October, Lyft plans to add availability in London, Rome, Paris, Berlin, Athens, and Warsaw.
For now, European riders can continue to use the Freenow by Lyft and Gett by Lyft apps, according to the company. Lyft acquired the European taxi app Freenow in April 2025 and Gett's U.K. business in April 2026.
Riders can use the same account and payment methods used in North America. In the next year, Lyft plans to allow riders to choose to pay in their home currency or in local currency.
