American Airlines this summer will introduce retrofitted Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft, the carrier announced Tuesday.
The retrofitted Airbus A319 fleet will have more premium seats—12, compared with eight previously—while the A320 fleet retrofits will offer 16 premium seats, up from 12. The new premium seats on each aircraft type also will feature privacy wings, additional storage and two beverage trays, according to American.
The premium seats will be similar in design and finish to the carrier's newly delivered Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321XLR aircraft, according to American.
In addition, the cabins of the retrofitted A319 and A320 fleets will include power at every seat and larger overhead bins.
In January, American also began to offer free high-speed Wi-Fi for American AAdvantage loyalty program members on its narrowbody and dual-class fleets.
