The Transportation Security Administration PreCheck Touchless ID biometric security option is available at all American Airlines hub airports for the carrier's passengers, American announced Wednesday.
Those airports include Charlotte, Chicago O'Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York LaGuardia, New York JFK, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Washington Reagan. TSA PreCheck Touchless ID also is available at 60 other U.S. airports where the carrier operates, according to American.
TSA PreCheck Touchless ID uses advanced technology to compare a customer's live image to photos previously provided to the U.S. government through such methods as passports, Global Entry memberships or visas.
Participation is voluntary. To opt into the program via American, customers can save their Known Traveler Number and valid passport details, and check the box to opt in to "TSA PreCheck Touchless ID," in the "secure traveler" section of the account settings in their AAdvantage loyalty program profile on the airline's app or website, according to the carrier.
