The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies rose 2.8 percent year over year in February to $8.28 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. The average U.S. round-trip ticket cost $486.
The number of passenger trips rose 2.05 percent to 25.9 million. Domestic trips rose 0.31 percent, while international passenger trips rose 4.93 percent. The number of trips settled by corporate travel agencies that self-report as handling at least 70 percent corporate/government business rose 2.56 percent year over year.
Electronic miscellaneous sales, which involve sales for ancillary services like premium seats, totaled $6.38 million, a 2.22 percent year-over-year drop. The number of EMD transactions fell 13.27 percent to 97, 938.
