Despite U.S. Carriers' Operational Improvements, Complaints Rose in 2015
In 2015, U.S. carriers collectively got 79.9 percent of flights to the gate within 15 minutes of their scheduled arrival times, up from 76.2 percent in 2014. They canceled 1.5 percent of scheduled domestic flights in 2015, compared with 2.2 percent the previous year, and reports of mishandled baggage and passengers bumped from overbooked flights also decreased. Even so, the DOT reported a nearly 30 percent increase in complaints about U.S. carriers to 20,170.
