British Airways' pilots' union is recommending its members accept a new pay proposal offered by the carrier, ending a dispute that resulted in the first strike in its history earlier this year, according to The Financial Times. The FT's report said the new offer adds an inflation protection cause to the previous pay increase offer of 11.5 percent over three years as well as better working conditions and flight bonuses. A strike as a result of the pay dispute forced BA to cancel nearly all of its flights during a two-day period in September, which contributed to a 155 million euro hit in profits to BA parent company International Airlines Group. Pilots also had been warning of another strike during the upcoming holiday season should the matter not have reached a resolution. They will vote on the proposal over the next few days, according to the FT.
