American Airlines and Alaska Airlines will begin offering reciprocal benefits to elite members of one another's loyalty programs in the spring, the carriers announced.
Upon Alaska's entry into the Oneworld alliance in March, Alaska elite members will be able to book American's Main Cabin Extra seating for free, while American elite members will get similar access to Alaska's Premium Class. In addition, Alaska MVP Gold 75K members will be able to earn upgrade certificates to move from Economy to Business Class on American flights. Alaska elite members also will gain access to lounges and priority service, such as baggage service, as Oneworld elite members.
Later in the year, Alaska MVP Gold 75K members will gain access to complimentary upgrade lists on American flights, and American Airlines said it was working with Alaska to develop enhanced mileage accrual options.
