The consolidated value of airline
tickets—including fares, fees and taxes—sold by U.S.-based travel agencies
increased 4.1 percent year over year in July to $6.9 billion, according to
Airlines Reporting Corp. Total fares sold rose 4.7 percent year over year as
total passenger trips increased 5.3 percent. Domestic fares sold declined 1.8
percent, and international fares increased 12.7 percent. The average ticket
price for July was $473, down 3.2 percent year over year, and airline fees
declined 5.9 percent.
