The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets—including
fares, fees and taxes—sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 3.2 percent
year over year in June to $7.6 billion, according to Airlines Reporting Corp. Airfares
sold rose 4.9 percent, and the number of passenger trips increased 3.3 percent.
A 12.2 percent increase in international trips offset a 1.1 percent decrease in
domestic trips. The average ticket price of a U.S. round-trip ticket in June
was $503, up about $6 year over year.
