Mexico City-based spend management platform Mendel has appointed former Latam Airlines sales executive Laura Madriñán to lead its travel vertical, the company announced.
Based in Chile, Madriñán will serve as Mendel's head of travel, a growing vertical for the company following the launch of its online booking tool last year. She previously was Latam's global sales director, working with both large corporate clients and large travel management companies, with which Mendel aims to partner to further its growth.
"Her experience across airlines, travel suppliers and digital platforms will be invaluable as we continue to build the most comprehensive and flexible travel [and] expense solution tailored for Latin American enterprises," Mendel co-founder and co-CEO Alejandro Zecler said in a statement.
More recently, Madriñán worked with Latin America e-market company Mercado Libre, which is one of Mendel's major clients alongside McDonald's and Mexican beverage and retail company FEMSA.
Besides Mexico, Mendel is also active in Argentina, and Chile is its next market for expansion across Latin America. Madriñán being based in Chile will help with that expansion, according to the company. Mendel has plans to expand into Colombia, Peru and Brazil as well in the coming years.
