Deem plans to add a new traveler safety and risk monitoring tool to its trip booking and management platform. Dubbed Travel Safety Check, the service will be offered at no additional fee to all of Deem's corporate clients, with rollout scheduled for early fall 2020, the company said.
Travel Safety Check will provide data related to the global Covid-19 pandemic, including supplier cleanliness procedures for air, hotel and ground transport, according to Deem. Information will come from multiple sources, including Routehappy for air carrier cleanliness protocols, according to a Deem spokesperson, who said that deals with other sources were still being finalized. In April, Routehappy parent company ATPCO unveiled the Universal Product Attribute metric, which provides information on such airline health measures as cabin cleaning, food service hygiene and health screenings, along with booking flexibility.
The first phase of Travel Safety Check's rollout will focus on hotels, offering health and safety information based on the property's location, including a map displaying the volume of historic and current Covid-19 cases in the vicinity, according to Deem. Air and ground transport information will become available later in 2020, Deem said.
