Delta Air Lines EVP and CFO Paul Jacobson will leave the carrier on Nov. 15 to take the CFO position at General Motors, according to a memo by Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
Jacobson, who has been with Delta since 1997 and its CFO since 2012, announced plans to step down earlier this year but put them on hold to help the carrier manage through the Covid-19 crisis. Since that time, he "has led the team that, among other things, raised nearly $30 billion in liquidity, a cushion that is essential to weathering the storm and positioning Delta to lead the industry in the recovery from the pandemic," according to Bastian.
Delta SVP of business development and financial planning Gary Chase and SVP of finance and controller Bill Carroll will act as co-CFOs as Delta searches for a replacement. The carrier is conducting a global search and also looking at internal candidates, Bastian said.
