Scandinavian Airlines has activated Airlines Reporting Corp.'s Multiple Form of Payment feature, enabling purchases via EDIFACT channels to be split between more than one form of payment. SAS is the first carrier to activate the feature, according to ARC.
With the feature, agencies and customers booking SAS through global distribution channels can, for example, combine a credit card and debit card or cash in a single transaction, according to ARC. The support extends across exchanges and refunds as well.
ARC said the payment flexibility is becoming necessary as dynamic offers, personalized pricing and order-based retailing become more common in the industry. "SAS' adoption of Multiple Forms of Payment gives agencies and travelers more choice while improving the accuracy and efficiency of settlement and reporting," ARC head of offers and settlement Shelly Younger said in a statement.
