The Lufthansa Group this week reported a net profit of €55 million for 2014, down 82.4 percent
from last year’s €313 million. Including Lufthansa, Swiss
International Air Lines, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, group passenger
revenue for 2014 declined 0.8 percent year over year to €23.3 billion. The company noted that pilot
and security strikes during the year cut operating revenues by €232 million. Group
airline capacity increased 2.1 percent year over year, and traffic increased
2.4 percent, leading to a 0.3 percentage point increase in load factor. Yield
declined 3.1 percent year over year, and revenue per available seat kilometer
declined 2.8 percent.
