Travel technology supplier TRX has entered the expense arena, having launched in late April an expense reporting tool with mobile imaging capabilities and a rapid implementation process for current TRX users.
TRX began testing the Truexpense tool via ongoing pilots with 10 companies that use TRX products, which include online booking tool ResX and data reporting tool Traveltrax, according to TRX president and CEO Shane Hammond. TRX developed it over a 14-week period, with most of the development time devoted to user functionality, he said.
"We researched what was available via the Web and drew from our own experience being users," Hammond said. "Our clear mission was to deliver a product that would delight the road warrior."
One of the tool highlights is a mobile application for BlackBerry and iPhone devices that allows users to snap photos of receipts, e-mail the receipt to the Truexpense tool with the expense category as a subject line and have it automatically populated in their expense report, Hammond said. "They can then throw the receipt in the trash, and upon return, sit down at their desktop and have an executed expense report," he said.
The tool can integrate into existing accounting and enterprise resource planning systems and receive corporate card feeds. Hammond said existing TRX tool users are "pre-deployed," meaning they can have the tool running within a day rather than having to wait for several weeks of implementation.
