Two of Amtrak's new Airo trainsets joined the Amtrak
Cascades route in the Pacific Northwest, the rail operator announced Wednesday.
The upgraded trains will operate four daily trips between
Vancouver, B.C., Seattle, Portland, and Eugene, Ore. Each will have more than
300 "ergonomically designed" seats per trainset with adjustable
headrests, enhanced lighting, complimentary Wi-Fi, individual power outlets and
USB-C ports and digital customer information displays, according to Amtrak.
Additional trainsets will enter service through early 2027,
replacing the existing Amtrak Cascades fleet, according to the operator. The
next planned deployments of the new trains are for the Northeast Regional line,
where the first trainset has completed production and begun testing ahead of a
planned service launch in late 2027.
