Hotel Roosevelt To Reopen
One of New York's grand old lodging names will reopen May 1 following a $65 million renovation. The 70-year old Hotel Roosevelt-a block away from Grand Central Station with an underground link-will again welcome guests, initially to about one-third of its 1,033 rooms and suites.
Rooms will feature color television with cable and in-room movies, two phone lines, dataport capabilities and individually controlled air conditioning.
The Roosevelt also offers 28,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, including a Grand Ballroom (5,500 square feet) and Terrace Room (4,000 square feet), plus 17 separate meeting rooms that range from 300 to 1,000 square feet. Starting room prices will be $159. Once fully operational-or at least when the restaurant and business center make their debut in June-the property will be discussing corporate contracts, according to a spokesman.
