Ron DiLeo, senior vice president of American Express Business Travel for Europe, the Middle East and Asia, is leaving his position to pursue personal interests, the New York-based travel management company today announced. DiLeo said he hopes to return to work in 2007, possibly within a U.S.-based unit of American Express, though not one related to business travel.
DiLeo through September will help transition David Herrick, currently senior vice president of global establishment services in Europe, to the vacated position. In his previous roles at American Express, Herrick has been responsible for maintaining relationships with airlines, hotels and retailers. DiLeo recently spoke with Business Travel News about the strength of Amex's European business
(BTN, July 31).
"Ron DiLeo has led the market through enormous reengineering efforts, consistently growing the European business, driving double-digit new sales growth and re-signed business," Charles Petruccelli, president of global travel services at American Express, said in a statement. "Ron rose to the professional challenge of a three-year relocation to London to lead the European business and hands over a strong business for future growth under David's leadership."
