Continental's Young Joins Six Continent Hotels
JANUARY 15, 2002 -- Six Continent Hotels late yesterday announced it had appointed Jim Young to the post of vice president of global distribution, responsible for GDS relationships, travel agent commission processing, database management and the hotel company's links with electronic intermediaries such as Expedia, Orbitz and Priceline.
Young joins Six Continents, which is comprised of the Inter-Continental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands, from Continental Airlines, where he served as managing director of distribution and represented the carrier on the board of the Universal Air Travel Plan. Young also worked extensively with Orbitz and has served as chairman of the Open Travel Alliance, the International Air Transportation Association e-commerce committee and the Electronic Marketplace Committee. He has participated in other industry forums, including committees at the Air Transport Association and the Airlines Reporting Corporation.
