Delta Air Lines has partnered with Shell Aviation to scale its use of sustainable aviation fuel across hubs and other cities under a five-year agreement, the carrier announced Wednesday. The airline disclosed neither the value nor volume of the deal, which runs through 2030.
Shell will "support" both blended and neat SAF deliveries at select hubs and cities, "helping establish the logistics, blending and distribution capabilities required for dependable supply across Delta's network," according to the carrier. Those cities include airports in Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Portland, Ore., Boston and Minneapolis-St. Paul.
Delta in 2023 created a SAF "hub" in Minnesota, and in 2024 received two shipments of more than 7,000 gallons each of SAF for airports in Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit, according to the carrier.
