BTI: Canadian Hotel Rates Fall, Fares Flat
Average ticket prices in Canada remained flat in 2002, but average hotel rates there fell 9 percent compared with 2001, according to a BTI Canada benchmarking study among 175 of its clients with annual travel volumes of between $100,000 and more than $10 million.
The study found the average length of domestic trips decreased while transborder and international trip length rose 4 percent and 14 percent, respectively. "This indicates that travelers are working to save money by combining trips, while accomplishing more in one trip, demonstrating an increased awareness by travelers of their part in controlling travel cost," said BTI in a news release issued today. Among hotel rates, the biggest decreases came in transborder and international.
