Alaska Airlines in January was the most punctual major U.S. airline, with an on-time arrival rate of 85.2 percent,
according to FlightStats. On average, North American airlines in January delivered 77.2 percent of their flights to the gate within 15 minutes of schedule. Among the eight largest U.S.-based carriers, excluding regional partners, Virgin America (83.4 percent), Delta Air Lines (82.9 percent) and Southwest Airlines (82.1 percent) had on-time ratings above the regional average. JetBlue Airways (76.2 percent), US Airways (76.1 percent), United Airlines (74 percent) and American Airlines (72.8 percent) had below-average ratings.
