Travel and Transport has begun providing safety information for LGBTQ travelers, including local laws and other dangers that pose risks specific to the LGBTQ community.
The data is available as an overlay option on a safety and security map in the travel management company's Swift Data reporting product, and the information also will be included in trip summary emails sent to travelers 24 hours in advance of their trip. A Travel and Transport spokesperson said the data for LGBTQ travelers comes from "multiple external sources and third parties" as well as Travel and Transport's own monitoring and incident management analysis through its global command center.
The risk ratings are "at a country level, based on federal and national attitudes that may significantly and negatively impact the safety, security and/or rights of the LGBTQ+ community," according to Travel and Transport executive director of global solutions Tristan Lockie. The TMC plans to address neighborhood-specific risks later this year, he said.
