Average U.S. hotel revenue per available room, daily rates and occupancy in November all were down month over month, while ADR and RevPAR remained above 2019 levels, according to hospitality analytics firm STR.
November U.S. hotel occupancy was 59.4 percent—down 7.8 percentage points from October 2022 and down 3.2 percent from 2019. ADR in November was $144.46, down from $155.63 the month prior and up 15.2 percent from 2019 levels.
RevPAR in November was $85.74, which fell 21.9 percent from October 2022 but was 11.4 percent over 2019 levels.
STR said its top 25 markets in November had higher ADR and occupancy than all other markets, "reflecting continued improvement in business travel and groups."
New York City remained in first place for occupancy among STR’s top 25 markets at 79 percent, while falling from 84.3 percent in October. Occupancy in the city in November was 8.8 percent below 2019.
Cities with the lowest November occupancy among STR’s top 25 markets were Minneapolis at 51.2 percent, falling 9.1 percentage points from its 60.3 percent occupancy in October. St. Louis fell to 52.2 percent occupancy from 62.2 percent the month prior, while San Francisco’s occupancy levels saw the steepest decrease among the top 25 markets in November, falling 21.8 percent below 2019 levels.
