G6 Hospitality, the parent company of Motel 6 and Studio 6, has announced a cleanliness initiative for its 1,400 hotels across the U.S. and Canada. The program, dubbed Clean@6, builds upon the industry standards set forth in the American Hotel & Lodging Association Safe Stay guidelines announced on Monday. G6 also is on the AHLA Safe Stay advisory council.
Some elements of Clean@6 include more frequent cleanings of public areas, providing hand sanitizer stations, encouraging social distancing, plexiglass hygiene guards at front desk terminals, increased guest communications on Covid-19 best practices and property requirements, employee training on Clean@6 standards, and required use of masks and disposable gloves by staff at all times while on property. Additionally, hotel staff will not enter any occupied room.
In addition to following U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other federal and state guidelines, G6 performed an update to its infectious disease protocols and partnered with Corporate Medical Advisors, a subsidiary of International SOS, which will review and provide ongoing guidance on the company's Covid-19 operating protocols. G6 also has partnered with Diversey to procure U.S. Environmental Protection Agency-registered disinfectants effective against many viruses, including emerging pathogens.
