Location and History
The Radisson Blu 1919 Hotel derives its name from the date of its construction. Built as the headquarters of Eimskipafelag Islands (the first shipping line in Iceland) in 1919, the building was later converted into a hotel. The architect was the same gentleman responsible for numerous local landmarks, including the city's famed church.
When built, this hotel was actually on the waterfront, but since then, reclaimed land has expanded the town's footprint. ...
