Location and History
This hotel occupies a beautiful art nouveau mansion built in the 1890s as the private home of a wealthy Uruguayan family. The elegant house remained in the same family for nearly a century before it was eventually left vacant. In the 2010s an Italian family living in Montevideo purchased the home, hired Uruguayan architects to carefully renovate it into a hotel, and opened Alma in 2015.
