PricewaterhouseCoopers Hospitality and Leisure Practice projects full-year 2011 U.S. average daily hotel rates will increase 3.6 percent from 2010 levels, followed by an increase of 5.1 percent in 2012.
While
the firm noted that "more fundamental and persistent headwinds than
economists previously anticipated" will slightly stall revenue growth
levels this year, hotel demand has continued to grow. Supply this year will
increase by only 0.8 percent over 2010 levels, compared with a 4.6 percent
increase in demand. PwC also projects full-year 2011 U.S. occupancy will be
59.8 percent, increasing to 60.4 percent in 2012.
