Air China and Singapore Airlines have agreed to form a commercial joint venture, subject to regulatory approvals, the carriers announced Monday. Each carrier is a member of Star Alliance.
The airlines plan to coordinate flights schedules, explore joint fare products, expand codeshare services, pursue joint marketing and revenue-sharing arrangements, and enhance benefits across their respective loyalty programs— Air China's PhoenixMiles and Singapore's KrisFlyer, according to the carriers.
The agreement also covers the potential expansion of their codeshare agreement, which launched in 2016, to additional destinations between Singapore and mainland China, within China and beyond the two countries, according to the carriers. Currently, the airlines codeshare on services between Singapore and each Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing and Shanghai.
Singapore Airlines last week launched a strategic joint business partnership with Malaysia Airlines.
